norman.

                Yeah, it’s….pretty cool, I guess.
                No annoying sisters or nagging
parents to bother me for once, so.. “

If Sam were to ask Norman what he did with his
free time, the medium wouldn’t know what to tell
him. There wasn’t much of anything he did that
anyone would think is interesting, like watching
B-horror movies & reading comics & playing games
in his room & having conversations with his dead
grandmother. Besides that, Norman didn’t think…
he should tell his friend about the whole TALKING
TO GHOSTS thing just yet…though he’s gratuitously
amazed Sam hasn’t paid enough attention to the
rumors & teasing that surround Norman’s existence
at school on the daily. Perhaps that’s a really, really
good thing.

At the question, Norman merely shrugged, gesturing
with his hand for Sam to follow him into the living room,
where their movie collection was.

We’ve uh, got quite a selection,
                       actually….here, have a look. You
                       can pick whatever. “

Opening the tall double cabinet doors, Norman settled
down onto his knees in front of the movies, gaze flickering
among the familiar movie titles before glancing over at
Sam, waiting patiently.

The silence around them was comfortable & peaceful.
Norman didn’t want to ruin it by asking anything he
shouldn’t, or by being too nosy, but he just…was terribly
curious about one thing right now. Rubbing at the back
of his neck, Norman drew his eyes away, staring at his
hands. Maybe he…shouldn’t ask.

sam understands how it is to deal with a sibling, an older
sister, no less, with two parents, & the trying times to have
alone time. he definitely empathizes with that ONE gratifying
moment when the house is empty. this would be the time
he’d call up his two close friends & ask if they could hang out,
but sam isn’t sure if norman really had a ton of friends to call,
at all. if not, he’s sure to invite norman over to hang out with
      him, bill, & neal.

besides, their group wasn’t in the right to judge despite getting
a plateful of judgments from the rest of the school’s cliques.

sam follows norman into the living room, his mind roaming into
the field of possibilities if he offers norman to join him & his
friends the next time they hang out. the thoughts cease as
he looks at the cabinets, grin broadening on his lips. whoa,
have you seen all these movies?” sam asks, crouching
      beside norman.

he leans forward, squinting his eyes at the array of titles lining
      up the shelves.

a finger strays onto a case, interest provoked from the title; he
pulls it out from the shelf to read its description. he returned it,
      only to glance at norman.

sam’s brow raised, you okay, norman?
